Five Ways to Exchange – June 2, 2017

Every Friday we’ll be letting you know about a few choice happenings in the Exchange! If you have an idea for something to be featured, email nicholas@exchangedistrict.org with “Five Ways to Exchange” in the subject line.

THE STAGE

Women’s Open Mic Comedy at Wee Johnny’s/Ladies Night at Forth

On the first Friday of every month, head over to Wee Johnny’s (177 McDermot) to check out Women’s Open Mic Comedy, hosted by the always incredible Dana Smith. If you’re a comedian, show up by 8pm to register, as this no cover show starts right at 8:30! Don’t forget to bring your donations of pads/tampons, which will go to women’s shelters. After you’ve spent Friday night in stitches, come dance them out at Forth (171 McDermot) the first Saturday of every month at Ladies Night! This weekend is a special Pride event featuring projected art, giveaways from Xodohtronu Clothing and DJs C8e, Super Shonek, Jordan and Slow Grind, all for only $10.

Visit Forth on Facebook for more information/RSVP to Women’s Open Mic Comedy on Facebook

Alleyways Market in the Exchange

The Distillery, Luckgirl Pop-Up and The Exchange District BIZ are bringing back last year’s distinctly Exchange take on the outdoor market! It’s one part farmer’s market, one part design exhibition, and one part curated pop-up shop, and it takes place from 4-10pm on June 2 in the alleyway on Elgin Avenue.

Visit alleywaysmarket.ca more info.

THE TOUR

Design Quarter Winnipeg Tour

Engage with local fashion designers, transform personal artwork into wearable buttons at the button-making workshop, and taste deliciously designed food and cocktails that pay extra attention to detail on the Design Quarter Winnipeg tour! There’s a special First Fridays tour tonight, in addition to regular tours on June 9 and 16, so get out there and get creatively woke!
