The Exchange District has been the centre of activity in Winnipeg even before it became a city. In 1919, these cobblestoned streets saw the most dramatic moments of the Winnipeg General Strike while playing host to dozens of bars within a few short blocks. The Striker’s watering hole of choice was the nomadic Labour Cafe, but on Strikes and Flights, you’ll sample some of the best beers and bites in the Exchange today—all while learning the history of Canada’s infamous labour conflict.
