Venues are located throughout the Exchange District and around downtown Winnipeg. As unbelievable as it sounds – IT’S TRUE! Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning Benedict Cumberbatch, star of the critically acclaimed TV series Sherlock and too many major motion pictures to name, will not reprise a role he’s not famous for. So for this 2018 Winnipeg Fringe Festival show, ImproVision will make stuff up without him in a dangerously fast-paced improv mash-up fuelled by audience suggestions. Artist’s Statement “Catching and Releasing” is a collection of work that comes from a place of joy, hope and pain. As I experiment with new mediums trying to find my “voice” in this artistic realm, I find myself lost in memories; being absorbed by things that are no longer present. I surround my studio with music and images that remind me of happy times but often, I find myself “Catching” glimpses of people no longer here. Sensing the presence and emotions of people I love and miss dearly. I see my long-since-passed mother in the corner of my eye. But in the present, I hear my children laughing in the yard and I smell the fragrance of my husband lingering ...

In the Main Gallery Voices of Indigenous Youth: A Healthy Neighbourhood, Urban Garden Project Brandon University Runs July 20 till August 11, 2018 Opening reception: July 20th, time TBA “Planting Seeds of Change: Voices of Indigenous Youth is a collection of photographs and stories about how urban community gardens contribute to holistic health of individuals and by extension, healthy neighbourhoods. The Medicine Wheel is used as a framework for understanding the holistic health benefits of urban gardening. As part of the Urban Gardens/Holistic Health Project, Indigenous youth in Brandon and Winnipeg, Manitoba, ages 18-29 years, designed, installed, and harvested demonstration gardens.
