Winnipeg Design Festival 2016
This year’s Winnipeg Design Festival runs through September 14th-17th. The Winnipeg Design Festival is an annual open and public event that celebrates Winnipeg’s rich community of talented creative individuals and strives to share, foster and inspire creative thinking and making in Winnipeg.
Come join us at the WDF inter[CHANGE], one of the main events during the festival, on Thursday, September 15th (4:30PM-10:00) in the Exchange District at 55 Arthur Street.
Learn about the business of design while supporting some of Winnipeg’s talented designers, creatives and entrepreneurs!
The event is FREE and ALL ARE WELCOME.
The WDF [inter]CHANGE
Cha[lle]nge: The Business of Design
With the intent to generate open discussions about the business of design, this event will be an interchange of shared information, ideas, products and experiences. The WDF [inter]CHANGE will transform a vacant space within the Exchange District into a hub filled with Winnipeg’s creative talent and will showcase varying expressions of innovation. The event will include a pop-up market, presentations, exhibits and a film screening. The content presented in this event will provide valuable insight and inspiration to everyone from upcoming/start-up design entrepreneurs to the curious consumer.
The indoor pop-market will be composed of a diverse palette of local vendors and emerging brands who represents just some of the abundant of talent the city has to offer. The WDF has aligned with Etsy and Entrepreneurship Manitoba to present a series of short lectures and workshops that will educate and instigate discussions on how businesses can further their own creative pursuits. The exhibits will reflect the current work of designers and makers who constantly challenge the understanding of design and actively pursue the ability to further the boundaries of material, scale, form and function.
