Whether functioning as a neighborhood park or as a hub for the entire city during summer festivals, Old Market Square has undeniable significance for the health and vitality of the Exchange District.
During its redevelopment in 2012, OMS Park became home to a brand new state-of-the-art open-air performance venue known as “the Cube”. Set against the backdrop of historic warehouses, the Cube is an interactive art fixture that can be used 365 days of the year.
Using cutting edge technology, the stage features 2 performance areas (a main-stage and a rooftop stage), a permanent state of the art sound system, lighting fixtures and a digital projector.
The outer shell of the 28’ x 28’ cube is a dynamic membrane composed of diamond extrusions strung together to form a flexible curtain that draws back; revealing the stage and structure within. The retracted skin in turn provides draped backdrop for performance; which allows for adjustments to the stage’s acoustics.
The stage in its closed position also accommodates small gatherings and exhibitions inside, both on the main floor and on an upper level performance space complete with bleacher-style seating.
